Public Housing Priorities For Domestic Violence Survivors

New York State Senate Bill: S.871

New York State Assembly Bill: No Same Version 

This bill would require public housing authorities that have established waiting list priorities to grant domestic violence survivors applying for public housing the same priority as other prioritized populations. Some of the prioritized populations are e.g., disabled, elderly, and the homeless. This priority is to be given to survivors who:

-Are in danger, if they continue to live at their current residence.

-Has left the residence and is not in living standard permanent replacement housing.
